The patches referenced in the SP Patch Level section of the note must be applied. This is explained in SAP note: #1602569 - Internet Explorer and Firefox browser support for Web Dynpro.
Currently, we have a note that allows your system just to "recognize" the browsers. On 7.01, support for these newer browsers starts with SPS09, and on 730 it starts with SPS05. For example, IE9 and Firefox (Rapid Release Cycle version N, per strategy outlined in SAP note #990034 ) are supported on 7.00 SPS24 (latest Web Dynpro runtime patches still need to be applied) and SPS26, respectively.
